About Me

Nurturing and teaching young children has been my passion since I was first introduced to the teaching profession at the age of 14. I spent my high school years working as an intern in a first grade inclusion classroom, where I received valuable training in the basics of behavior management and teaching techniques. I spent my summers nannying and working in daycare centers. I quickly realized that the large center environment was not for me, as I wanted more time to interact with and truly nurture the children in my care.

In 2006 I had the privilege of working at an impoverished primary school in the Dominican Republic. My experiences there solidified for me that teaching is what I love.

Shortly before the birth of my first child I accepted employment in a special education classroom at a local elementary school. This was a "Highly Qualified" position, which required a certain amount of college education, as well as "field" or hands-on training and experience in the special education setting.

I came to love the children with whom I worked, and to love the field of special education. Thanks to continuing education, when the lead teacher moved out of state, I was able to accept greater responsibilities in the classroom: writing lesson plans, revising IEP's, and handling parent-staff communications. I also worked as a part time consultant for a small private school, assisting the kindergarten teacher with writing lesson plans and implementing strategies to deal with behavior issues in the classroom.

Presently I am continuing my college education with the goal of licensure as a Special Education teacher. I look forward to working with your child as we embark together on our quest for continued education!
